This role involves assessing patient health conditions, monitoring cardiac telemetry data, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to manage diverse patient needs. The position requires strong clinical skills in med-surg and telemetry nursing, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.Essential Work Functions:Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and document findings using evidence-based toolsCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, social workers, and case managers, to develop patient-centered care plansProvides and coordinates patient care with other health team membersMonitors patients' responses to interventions and reports outcomes and adjusting care plans as neededAdministers medications as ordered with appropriate documentation educating patients about their use, side effects, and adherenceSupport patients during medical procedures relevant to mental health care, such as ECT or crisis interventions, and monitor their responsesPerforms other duties as assigned within scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsAdvocates for patients' needs and rights, ensuring culturally sensitive and ethical care deliveryParticipate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance psychiatric nursing practiceEducate patients and families about mental health conditions, coping strategies, and available resourcesComplete accurate, timely documentation to support legal, clinical, and operational requirementsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is requiredAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bendingInterpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
